A Caregiver's Encouragement

We recently came across a Facebook post by Carter Ritchie, whose father, Heinz, has been a beloved Circle Center participant for four years. Carter writes with remarkable honesty about what it means to be a caregiver.

It's a must read.

If you’ve been a caregiver, you’ll recognize much of what Carter describes. If you’re a caregiver now, you may find encouragement in his words. And if caregiving is not yet part of your life, his perspective offers an important glimpse into what it can mean.

Use Your Voice

Please join us in advocating for older adults in two ways:

Reauthorization of the Older Americans Act (OAA)

The OAA is the foundation of our nation's aging services network, supporting programs that help older adults remain healthy, independent, and connected to their communities.

The Senate has passed the reauthorization, and the legislation is now before the House. Contact your U.S. Representative and urge them to support it. LeadingAge Virginia makes it easy to take action here.

Statewide Assessment Survey for Aging Services

Help shape the future of aging services in Virginia by completing the Statewide Assessment Survey for Aging Services. The Virginia Center on Aging (VCoA) is conducting the survey to help inform the next Virginia State Plan for Aging Services.

If you are 60 or older, a caregiver, or an aging services professional living in Virginia, please complete the survey here by September 25th.

Questions about the survey? Call 804-662-7093.

Thank You to Our Funding Partners

Our new fiscal year began July 1st, and we’re already grateful to several organizations for their generous grant support.

They are:

In July, we received a Give Together grant from Altria. This annual, employee-driven program gives Altria employees a voice in nominating and supporting nonprofits in their communities.

Altria has been a longtime supporter of Circle Center, and we’re especially grateful that its employees give not only financial support, but also their time as volunteers.

This month, we received a Community Benefit Investment Grant from the Bon Secours Richmond Health System Foundation, a consistent supporter of Circle Center.

We are honored to be part of Bon Secours’ efforts to build healthier individuals, families and neighborhoods and to address the social drivers of health affecting our community.

"There are only four kinds of people in the world. Those who have been caregivers, those who are currently caregivers,

those who will be caregivers and those who will need caregivers."
