Celebrate with Circle Center

February 9, 2023

It's Recreational Therapy Awareness Month!

Recreational Therapy is a BIG deal at Circle Center. It is the very foundation upon which our program is built. Program Director Mary Branzelle explains, "Rec Therapy allows our participants to re-establish hobbies and leisure pursuits that they once enjoyed. Most importantly, it assists in managing stress, promotes independence, increases self-esteem, social engagement and positive self-image. And it's fun!"

And Mary should know, she's been at it for 34 years, nearly 8 of those here at Circle Center.

Mary's team includes Elizabeth, Shaniece, and Lauren. This fab four moves all day, every day throughout our program rooms, engaging our participants--body, mind, and soul. Always, but especially this month, we celebrate their profession, their dedication, and the profound results their work has on the older adults we are honored to serve at Circle Center.

"I'm so encouraged by the changes I see in our participants as they engage in rec therapy. They inspire me every single day."

--Shaniece

"I love seeing smiles on participants faces, hearing the stories they share about their lives, and the sound of their laughter during programs!"

--Elizabeth

"My mom's work with individuals with disabilities inspired me and I've never looked back."

--Lauren
