| It Takes A Village, We Mean A Swarm... |
On November 1st,there were even more reasons to smile at Circle Center! Why? Well, let's just say a swarm of kindhearted folks showed up, rolled up their sleeves, and got BUSY! The 100+ volunteers from Altria, Richmond Community Toolbank, and Tupelo Farm and Garden focused on sprucing up our outdoor spaces big time. |
| |
They weeded, planted, made mobility-friendly picnic tables, painted benches, filled caregiver bags and appreciation bags for our staff. It was a great start to our week! |
...And On That Same Day, This Began To Unfold... |
Two of the most exciting projects the volunteers tackled were painting a sun mural by our entrance and prepping a HUGE exterior wall for another 15' by 75' mural!
RVA-based artist Nico Cathcart is sharing her talent on the mural projects. About the large mural...some of you may recognize those beautiful faces. They're Mike, Elizabeth, Banoo, and Winston -- folks who spend their days with us and agreed to be featured in this work of art. Nico collaborated with local photographer Caroline Shelnut on the Renaissance-theme with Caroline selecting clothing and taking the photographs that Nico is now replicating on the wall. It has been fascinating to watch the progress and Nico tells us she'll be finished by Thanksgiving. Please stop by anytime and take a look at our makeover and check on the progress of the mural. A big THANK YOU to everyone that made all this possible! |

Did you know that half of our participants receive Medicaid, and Medicaid only covers 66% of our costs? Knowing that, it's easy to see the critical role you, our supporters, play in our mission delivery. We are asking for your help again.
With November 29th just around the corner, will you consider helping us bridge the gap in honor of Giving Tuesday? |
A gift as small as $36 bridges the gap for one day's programming for one adult at the center and $180 does the job for a week! All gifts this month will go toward our ambitious goal of raising $20,000 for this year's Giving Tuesday.
Will you be part of our celebration?

Heather's Op-ed and Your Impact |
On November 6th, the Richmond Times-Dispatch published an opinion piece written by our CEO, Heather Turbyne-Pollard in honor of National Family Caregivers Month. |
In it, Heather raises awareness of the Herculean job caregivers do and their critical importance to the fast growing number of older adults in the U.S. She explains that thankfully, many older adults and caregivers are able to rely on adult day services for a helping hand.
Our annual caregiver survey confirms that Circle Center is making a positive difference for the older adults and caregivers we are honored to serve. Here are what our current caregivers say about the center's impact on their lives and that of their loved one's: -
95% report that Circle Center improved their loved one's quality of life.
- 93% say the center has improved the fulfillment of the participant's social, emotional and physical needs.
- 90% say the center has reduced their stress as a caregiver.
-
85% report that Circle Center has allowed them to maintain their other life roles (employee, spouse, parent).
- And finally, 80% report that the center's programs have enabled their loved one to remain safely at home.
Enjoyment in life, less stress, time for other responsibilities, and the ability to remain at home. We think we're on the right track, and with your continued support, we will stay the course. |
You make this possible - thank you!

"I'm just so grateful for so much today. I'm grateful for my sister who takes care of me, my grandchildren, my girlfriend, and this place (Circle Center). All of you are so good to me." -- Bill, participant |
