Our Program
Wide range of services
Circle Center’s comprehensive adult day program offers a broad range of services provided by a highly qualified, multi-disciplinary team that includes health care professionals, recreational therapists, physical and speech therapists, and social workers.
Our program is well-suited for older adults who need support during the day, including those with Alzheimer’s, dementia, or other cognitive issues.
Fundamental to our program is our understanding that new friendships, learning, and purpose happens at every age. We know because we see examples every day at Circle Center.
Activities
Where joy happens
An improved quality of life includes activities that promote socialization, physical fitness, cognitive stimulation, and self-esteem.
Our activities are designed and curated by our Director of Programming and her team of recreational therapists. Activities include:
- Exercise and movement, including Chair One Fitness, Zumba, weights, and more
- Meditation and mindfulness, including Tai Chi
- Arts and crafts, including monthly sessions with Art on Wheels
- Games and team activities
- Memory and reminiscence activities
- Gardening, including monthly sessions with Henrico County’s Master Gardeners
- Holiday & seasonal activities

Health & Personal Care
Health monitoring & personal care assistance
Our nurses evaluate each participant on a daily basis to assess and meet their needs which may include:
- Activities of daily living (eating, toileting, ambulating, dressing, general supervision)
- Medication administration and monitoring
- Monitoring of weight, blood pressure, blood glucose, fluid intake, and general health status as needed
- Referrals to physicians and other health care providers
- Coordination with primary and specialist care providers
- Health education for participants and caregivers
Licensed nursing staff also provide the initial response to medical emergencies. Circle Center has written plans and procedures to handle disruptive behavior, including attempts to leave the building and other emergencies. Staff are certified in CPR and first aid including choking.
Rehabilitative Therapy
On-site physical, occupational, and speech therapy
Circle Center is dedicated to making the challenges of caregiving as easy as possible. We offer:
- Onsite physical, occupational and speech therapy thanks to our partnership with Powerback Rehabilitation
- Continuous monitoring and excellent carryover of all rehabilitation programs
- Assessment and recommendations for necessary medical/adaptive equipment
- Help with home therapy programs
- An individualized walking program designed to meet specific needs of the participant
Caregiver Support
Less stress, more support
Our unique adult day model of care has been proven to significantly reduce caregiver stress. Circle Center provides the respite at-home caregivers need.
In last year’s caregiver survey, over 90% of our caregivers responded that using Circle Center helped them maintain other valued life roles.
An essential component to caregiver support are our monthly support groups. Our Parkinson’s Group meets once a month and our Family Caregiver Group meets twice a month. Learn more »
